Pennzoil Ultra Euro synthetic 5W-40 motor oil is a multigrade weight (viscosity grade) oil for use in European gasoline and turbocharged diesel engines in a variety of SUVs, light vans and trucks, and passenger cars in all driving conditions. The synthetic formula helps prevent sludge build-up, provides more overall lubrication and wear protection, and increases gas mileage in comparison to conventional oils. 5W-40 weight is designed for both winter and summer temperatures and is quickly distributed throughout the engine to ensure proper lubrication for the moving parts. It is thicker at hotter temperatures than 5W-30 and 10W-30 grade oils, and thinner at colder temperatures than 10W-30 grade oils. Synthetic oils provide thermal and oxidation stability for better performance between the recommend oil change intervals than what conventional oils offer.
